Why I Chose to Pursue Digital Marketing
I chose to pursue digital marketing because it’s the future of business. As someone managing a juice shop in Liluah, Kolkata, I realized that traditional marketing alone isn’t enough anymore. People are constantly online, and being visible there is key to growth. Digital marketing offers endless opportunities — from social media to SEO — and gives small businesses like mine a powerful voice. Through my course with upGrad, I’m learning how to promote my brand effectively, reach new customers, and even explore freelance or career opportunities. It’s a skill that blends creativity, strategy, and real-world impact — exactly what I was looking for.
My Experience in the Digital Marketing Program So Far
My name is Roshan Kumar Sharma. I secured first division in my twelfth standard and later graduated with a B.Com Honours degree. Currently, I run a juice shop in Liluah, Kolkata, which has taught me a lot about customer service, business operations, and hard work. However, in today’s fast-changing world, I realized that having an offline business alone isn’t enough — you need a strong online presence to truly grow. That’s what motivated me to pursue a Digital Marketing course with upGrad.
Digital marketing is the future. From small shops to global brands, everyone is using it to connect with customers, build trust, and drive sales. I wanted to learn how to promote my juice shop on platforms like Instagram and Google, run local ads, and understand customer behavior online. This course has already helped me gain hands-on knowledge in areas like social media marketing, SEO, content creation, and analytics.
My goal is to not only grow my own business but also offer digital services to others in my area. I believe this skill will open many new doors. Choosing digital marketing was a decision driven by both passion and practicality — and I’m proud to be on this journey.
